The gentlemen of Epsilon Mu have teamed up with West Wood Middle School of Alachua County to help feed the homeless in the Gainesville area. Beginning February 26 and ending March 7 canned food will be collected at West Wood Middle School with the goal of raising 2000 cans of food. The Theta committee has been working with West Wood’s student council to organize this event. With flyer’s, school wide announcements and support from the teachers the student council believes that it can reach it’s goal in just 8 days of can collection. During those two weeks brothers from the chapter will be visiting the school every other day and collecting the bags of cans.
Gainesville Harvest, a non-profit organization, is helping to sponsor the event and distribute educational information about the homeless in Alachua County. In addition, Publix has made donations to the project as well. As an incentive, the West Wood homeroom that raises the most cans will receive an ice cream party during their lunch period. We would like to thank all those at West Wood Middle School who have been very enthusiastic and helpful in getting this project underway. We look forward to next week when we pick up the donated cans and will update this article to let everyone know the success of the project.
Fantastic! I’m really excited about this project. Great work so far guys!
Brothers, I believe there’s a sign-up sheet available to visit the school over the course of next week. Keep an eye out for that. Please try to schedule this in with your classes!
